DESIGNHERS CARD SET
Women make up 60-75% of university art students, yet women reportedly made up only 11% of creative directors worldwide. Where do the women go?
I designed a set of 15 postcards that highlight historical female designers. The front is an abstraction of their work, while the back includes educational information including the time period they worked in and their contributions to the field.
This project aims to start conversation on the inequities in our field. Through my research I noticed that the majority of these designers are white, cis, heterosexual women. The graphic design field has a lot of work to do in creating an inclusive community to all identities, and I hope this project is the beginning of a larger discussion on diversity including, but not limited to, gender.
